Lunar Eclipse in Cancer 1-10-20 An International and Domestic Paradigm Shift
JANUARY 3, 2020 / YEREVAN

The Lunar Eclipse at 20 degrees of Cancer on January 10th is the mark of both an international and domestic paradigm shift on this planet. The Moon is opposite of the Sun, Mercury, Ceres, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, giving a final push from limited conditions before the Saturn-Pluto conjunction becomes exact on January 13th. Uranus stations Direct on this day after being Retrograde since August 11 2019, adding to the wildness and unpredictability of moods and encounters.

Cancer is a water sign and its element rules the emotions. Emotional attachments, triggering dynamics and dependencies may seem to be worsening, which is what often happens before something stops and begins to improve. The haunting memories of past betrayals, the stifled home settings, the toxic relationships, childhood wounds, family skeletons falling out of the closet, hunger and longing for connection beyond personality levels are magnified at this time.

What both the lunar eclipse in Cancer and Uranus going Direct in Taurus are saying is that it’s time to let go of some things that have been weighing us down. The Cancer Moon points to emotional baggage and Uranus going forward in earthy Taurus points to material possessions and money-related patterns that need to change. If we live as if the past is stuck to us like krazy glue we’ll never find find happiness in the present or future. If finances are motivated by fear, greed or a non-questioning sense of obligation they will become a form of imprisonment.

This is a monumental moment in the living room, at the kitchen table, and in the town square. Words and feelings, like food, are also nourishing or poisonous to the body’s complex systems. The ocean tides are influenced by the moon but oceans have also been impacted by human misdeeds and ignorance. Read about the tons of radioactive fukushima water ready to be dumped into the Pacific ocean.

The tension between the Cancer Moon and Ceres in Capricorn is also casting a light on motherhood, nurturing and the hidden wounds that women carry as mothers, grandmothers, sisters and daughters. It makes visible the various forms of sacrifice that women experience when they offer their bodies to house another being in their womb and support its upbringing. For some this is a joyful experience, but too many mothers in this world are burdened by tragedy, illness, or a lack of emotional support.

The concept of mothering goes beyond giving physical birth. One can mother and nurture others with food, with information, material goods or affection. One can also birth art instead of babies. For some, mothering others has been the sole focus of their livelihood and interactions with others. Those who have done so without compromising themselves too much are often the most fulfilled. But those who have barely made time for their own rest, hopes and dreams tend to become bitter, or at some point when they just cannot continue to give themselves away, suddenly break down in distress. They may feel then that they have nothing left to give.

Finding oneself after an extended period of suffering, smother-mothering or self-sacrifice can be overwhelming. There is so much to piece together. The difference between what has been given away in good spirits and what has been lost is something that this eclipse is helping to discern. Right giving just feels right and empowers us and others. The pattern of wrong giving can finally be broken and a phase of reclaiming personal power has just begun.

New mothers and fathers are experiencing certain challenges that our ancestors never had to face. We may not have to labor as hard as they did in plowing the fields and darning the socks. They would probably roll over in their graves if they saw jam-packed freeways, 5G towers, enforced vaccinations, chemtrails and where AI could be taking us as a species.

The current state of development indicated by the Cancerian lunar eclipse is vulnerable one, apparently filled with pitfalls, dangers and temptations. There is enough uncertainty in the air so it’s probably do best to lay low and not act on any iffy impulses. The greatest benefits may be discovered by going inward in such activities as staying cozy by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa, home-cooking, cuddling with pets or reading a good novel.

The world can be a scary place and everyone needs to get away from it all now and then to hear themselves think and breathe. Whatever the refuge is should provide serenity, beauty and sense of safety, even if it’s just a state of mind, an angle or perspective that is liberating rather than confining. This is a time tending the aspects of the soul that have been wilting from neglect. Meditation, sleep, visits to the spa or receiving a massage are ways of gaining peace of mind. Other activities supported by the current astro alignments include building an altar, practicing Feng Shui or otherwise clearing out clutter, bringing comfort and sacredness into a living space.

The USA is Cancer-born and the lunar eclipse occurs between its Sun and Mercury, opposite of its Pluto and impending Pluto Return (2022). There are clear signs of America undergoing some big changes with regard to its leading government, its economy, and many prized forms of freedom that have been stripped away one by one in the past decade. Now a new decade has begun. What unfolds may be unlike that which any of us alive today have seen happen. Wherever we may be, as long as the faculties of reasoning and responsibility still exist within us we have so many options to create a meaningful and joy-filled life.
