GBeloved Ascending Family,
It has been a life changing month for me and my family this September, especially the last two weeks. In July, my daughter Michelle had surgery to remove a cancerous lump under her left armpit. (A CTScan showed only that lump.) After a week in the hospital, she felt good so she went back to where she had been living in a care giving private home. (There were complications during her birth that resulted in Michelle being diagnosed as having cerebral palsy which affected her daily existence for the rest of her life.) Several weeks later she was taken to the hospital because she was experiencing great pain walking.
After another CTScan which showed many tumors along her spine, many of which were growing in the spinal disk area – we were told that she had three to six months to live. But that prognosis changed drastically to within the next few days. She was moved to a Hospice House and I galvanized all our family members to come see her while they had the chance. Because I am disabled I was not able to travel the 5 hour drive to see her.
Through the miracles of iPhone technology, I was able to be at Michelle’s bedside for 4 hours one evening and for about 12 hours on her final day. My younger daughter and grandson connected me through Facebook Messenger to her iPhone! I was there ‘live’ with her and could see her and talk to her and her twin sister and her husband, younger sister and nephew, her cousin, her caregiver and all the other wonderful support workers who came at different times to be with her and gave support and care as she needed it. I am grateful to all who have made Michelle’s last days so meaningful for her. It has eased my mind and heart to know that the love and care of her family and extended family has sustained Michelle in her time of need.
Following an extremely quick and painful battle with melanoma cancer, my daughter Michelle passed away on 19 September 2023. In the early hours of her last day, the clouds lifted and the Aurora Borealis ushered her passage to heaven with a beautiful display of magical colors. https://www.castanet.net/edition/news-story-447493-2-.htm
My younger daughter wrote: “Thank you to everyone for your support and kind words over the last few days. It sincerely has been beautiful to see how everyone came together to make sure that Michelle’s passing was done respectfully and with loveAlthough last night was extremely difficult, it was also one of the most beautiful experiences that I have ever been a part of. Hard to explain, but I hope that I can be even half as good a human as Michelle was to others. The number of people that came to see her was amazing. She made a difference in this world by just genuinely and unapologetically being her.”
These moments make one realize how special and lucky we are to have our families here and now and to enjoy and love them all.
God bless you all ❤️
Marlene
